says "Colors: Max 16 colors onscreen of 256"

It should just say "Colors: 256 color palette" .

Max of 16 colors? One way or another all 256 colors can be shown on screen. Various techniques can be debated, but in the end the "16 color maximum" is not real.

Been awhile since I added that on the page, so I can't remember where it came from. Probably Wiki.

My guess: The 16 color figure is probably what Atari told devs what it could do. Of course, creative programmers always find ways around the printed specs!
